TomTom is GPS navigation software for your digital handheld devices, smartphones, pocket PCs and PDAs (personal digital assistants). TomTom navigation software can be integrated into a receiver or used as a navigator product with external receivers, for example TomTom Mobile 5.2 which is being replaced by TomTom Navigator 6.

TomTom navigators and navigation software products are manufactured by TomTom NV, a Dutch company and one of the leading makers of navigation products in Europe. Enterprise was initially named as Palmtop Software by the founders Pieter Geelen and Peter-Frans Pauwels (currently serving as Chief Technical Officer) in the year 1991, however later renamed to TomTom NV. The company is head-quartered out of Amsterdam, Netherlands with Harold Goddijn serving as the Chief Executive Officer.

TomTom NV was also able to acquire Tele Atlas sometime in 2008 to enhance its mapping quality, a digital map producer for a whopping sum of €2.9 billion.

The latest release by the company is Navigator 7 as of 2011 integrated as software product in HTC Touch Diamond. Users can get digitally interactive and share map directions or amendments with other TomTom users while also are able to add regularly used features on the main screen of the device program.

The TomTom software is available in a DVD format and SD card as well, runs effectively on the most devices running on Windows Mobile operating system and a lot of others mentioned on their website. There is a 15 character product code printed and included in the DVD version of the TomTom software along with a printed poster of software setup process for two versions, licensing agreement, guide on how to quick start your software and an advertisement flyer for other TomTom Plus products and services.

The DVD version also includes software for installation of TomTom Home, software for mobile handhelds and gadgets, manuals, licenses, voices and maps. The mobile devices software includes CAB files for PPC, Palm, UIQ3 and Symbian.

TomTom navigator can be used with both, touch screens and otherwise as well using a cursor to key in required information in gadgets without touch screens.
